Scarves

A scarf is one of the most versatile clothing accessories, used for centuries across a variety of cultures, and for a range of purposes.

Walk into any clothing store and you’ll surely see a scarf display somewhere. Ever wondered about the origin of the scarf?  It is in Ancient Egypt (around 1350 BC) that the scarf appeared in public for the first time as Queen Nefertiti was said to have worn a tightly woven scarf wrapped under her jewelled headpiece.

Today, scarves can be styled to look extremely elegant.  They accentuate outfits and just by adding a scarf is enough to spice up any outfit.   Although scarves can be obtained in a variety of different fabrics, be mindful of the fact that they will be wrapped around your neck most of the time.

COTTON scarves are soft, comfortable, and breathable.  Suitable for anyone with sensitive skin as this fabric does not cause irritation or itching to the skin.

CHIFFON is one of the most elegant fabrics available.  A light-weight fabric that is used to make luxurious garments.  Chiffon scarves drape beautifully, and the semi-mesh weave provides a see-through appearance.

SILK scarves retain the moisture of skin and hair. Using silk scarves regularly keeps your skin aglow for longer as it retains the moisture of the skin. It delivers the same benefits to your hair, keeping it soft, smooth, and luxuriously silky. Moreover, if you have sensitive skin, pure silk scarves are great for you as they are hypoallergenic.  Silk scarves are expensive but consider them as an investment. In the words of Audrey Hepburn: 'When I wear a silk scarf I never feel so definitely like a woman, a beautiful woman.'

VISCOSE scarves are very soft, with a silk-like feel. They drape beautifully, giving a flawless, elegant touch to any outfit. They have the soft feel of silk and the breathability of cotton, all at a very affordable price. However, viscose is prone to stretching, and once it has stretched, it doesn’t recover its original shape.

CASHMERE scarves not only keep you warm but can be cool to wear in a warmer climate, making these scarves suitable to be worn in all kinds of weather.

PASHMINA is popular for its insulating characteristics and its wonderful texture. It keeps you warm in cold weather and protects you from the chilliness of the winter breeze.

VELVET is a luxurious thick fabric. Warm and soft, making you feel warm and cosy, but the thickness of a velvet scarf around your neck may be a source of discomfort.

WOOL scarves are super soft to the touch and are extremely breathable and comfortable to wear.

ACRYLIC scarves are made from acrylic fibres that are extremely lightweight although they are not as good as wool when it comes to softness and breathability.

Scarves are used as hair accessories, winter garments, and much more. Whether you’re wearing a scarf as a fashion statement or as a belt, wrist tie or handbag accessory it demonstrates the ability to blend into the wardrobes of undoubtedly every woman.  Throughout history, from cultural aspects to couture trends, scarves have been in fashion for as long as fashion has been practiced, and they are not going out of style any time soon!
